Our purpose

Is dance a mere luxury?

In our society people with disabilities are usually provided for and receive the basic, practical care they require.

However, the company is aware of the need to bring an additional dimension into their lives, in which mind and spirit can expand and emotional satisfaction can be found. It does so by teaching dance using a variety of music while it provides regular social events to counteract the negative, mental effects of inactivity and isolation. Its aims are largely preventative and also include a concern for maintaining physical fitness. **Watch the dancers in action in the slideshow below.**

The dancers are expected to strive for personal achievement as well as harmonise in their group. They gain confidence, having learnt new skills and having found a purpose, particularly as keen performers.

The company's shows are true highlights in the dancers' lives. Their presentations, which include taught dances and their own, original choreography speak for themselves and evoke a positive view of people with Down’s Syndrome. It is also hoped that on such occasions the effects of providing a life of interest and purpose are clearly seen and will lead to sustained action in our communities.
